Hello River Oaks Neighbors,
We wanted to take a moment to share a few updates on what’s happening around the community.
We are excited for our annual July 4th Parade, which is always a neighborhood favorite and a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate.
July 4th Parade Details
Start Time: 9:30 AM
Parade lineup will begin at the corner of Timbercrest and Long Valley and will follow the fire truck through the neighborhood.
Popsicles and a water slide will be available following the parade at the lot at the end of Johnson Chapel.
Prizes will be awarded for:
Best Dressed Participant
Best Decorated Bike
Best Decorated Vehicle
We hope everyone will join us for a fun morning of community celebration.

HOA Payment Options
We are currently exploring additional payment options for HOA dues to make the process as convenient as possible for residents. Unfortunately, because the HOA does not maintain a dedicated community phone number, Venmo is not a practical option at this time. We will continue evaluating alternative methods and will keep everyone informed as new options become available.
⸻
Construction & Property Guidelines
As many of you have noticed, there is quite a bit of new construction and teardown activity taking place throughout the neighborhood. We understand this can sometimes create inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience. We are actively working with builders to help minimize disruption, keep areas clean, and maintain the overall appearance of the community, and they have been very responsive in assisting with these efforts.
Important Reminder Regarding Construction Properties
With the increase in construction activity, we want to clearly remind everyone that entering any home or structure that you do not own or have not been explicitly authorized to access is strictly prohibited. This includes homes under construction, vacant properties, and those scheduled for demolition.
Additionally, removing or taking any materials, fixtures, or items from these properties is not permitted. Even if something appears to be discarded, it remains the property of the homeowner or builder unless clearly designated otherwise.
For everyone’s safety and to protect our community, we ask that all residents and guests refrain from entering these properties and treat them with the same respect as their own.
⸻
Community Entrance Improvements
In an effort to manage costs while continuing to improve our neighborhood entrances, we have been transplanting mature shrubs and bushes from nearby build sites prior to demolition, with the property owners’ permission. This allows us to enhance the entrances with more established landscaping while reducing costs by reusing existing plants rather than purchasing new materials.
Please bear with us as we continue transitioning these areas and bringing irrigation systems back online. We look forward to sharing the progress with everyone as these improvements take shape.
⸻
As always, we welcome your input. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We truly value the feedback and involvement of our community.
Thank you for being a part of River Oaks!

Construction & Cleanliness Updates
We know there’s been a lot of construction throughout the neighborhood, and we’ve heard from many of you about the impact. While it’s been tough to keep things as clean as we’d like, we are working closely with the city to ensure builders follow all rules and regulations. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this.
Neighborhood Courtesy Reminder
Just another friendly reminder: if you put out speed or caution signs, please make sure they are not placed in the road. We’ve had several complaints, and if a vehicle is damaged by a sign in the roadway, the person who placed it there will be held responsible.
Thank you for helping keep our neighborhood safe and respectful for everyone.
Your continued support makes all the difference in keeping River Oaks a great place to live.

A letter from a fellow River Oaks Resident:
Brentwood Academy is going before the Planning Commission on October 6th at 7:00 in City Hall to request lighting of their baseball field. That field was constructed in 1994, and the Commissioners determined then that the field was not to be lit. The biggest concern is the usage of the field with lights because it would be used almost year-round, and the neighborhood will have to endure the noise of the field ( the baseball striking the metal bat, the music, the cheers). And, with lights, games can be played well into the night.
Would you please attend and help pass the word to your neighbors to attend the meeting? We need to be very vocal about how detrimental the lighting in that field will be for all of us. I also hope we get to express our concern about how loud the speakers are on the football field too.
Thank you!

We’re excited to announce that the Annual 4th of July Parade is back!
🎉 Parade starts at 9:30 AM – come early to line up and cheer on your neighbors.
🎨 Decorate your bikes, wagons, golf carts, or strollers – let’s make it festive!
💦 Stick around afterward for a water slide, popsicles, and great company!
Thanks to Jaclyn DeVore for organizing this beloved tradition once again. Last year’s turnout was incredible, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all again!
Neighborhood Updates:
🛠️ New Community Boards: Three new boards are being installed to help keep everyone informed about events, news, and HOA updates. Huge thanks to Amy Keffer, our treasurer, who’s taken on a massive workload this year. We truly appreciate her dedication!
🌿 Entrance Cleanup: Thank you to Clay Robinson and his team at Nashville Lawn Equipment for generously cleaning up our entrances on their own time—it made a big difference.
🌺 Landscaping Efforts: A big shoutout to Whitney Shelton for her hands-on work with the entrance landscaping. We’ve had to do some major cleanup to remove overgrowth and prep for a refreshed look. It’s still a work in progress, but we’re excited about the improvements coming this fall!
🔌 Electrical Help: A heartfelt thanks to Luther Tanley for his behind-the-scenes work supporting our community’s electrical needs. He’s been a true neighborhood hero.
🌳 Tree Cleanup: We’re aware of fallen limbs and dead trees in some areas and are actively gathering bids to have them addressed this month.
🚧 Construction Challenges: With all the development happening, we know it’s been a tough balance between progress and disruption. Thanks for your patience as we work to keep everything running smoothly.
Entrance Revamp: One of our biggest projects this year is upgrading the entrances—new plantings, flowers, bushes, and updated stonework are all underway. These improvements are costly, so your continued HOA contributions truly make a difference. Every dollar is used thoughtfully to keep River Oaks beautiful and well-maintained.
🚿 Speaking of upkeep, our sprinkler system required unexpected repairs this season. It took significant time and funds to restore it, and we appreciate your support in making that possible.
Friendly Reminder:
We have a few new drivers (and scooter riders!) in the neighborhood. They’re still learning the rules of the road, so please drive cautiously and keep an eye out for our young neighbors—they’re at least under the speed limit!
Thank you for making River Oaks such a vibrant and welcoming community. We look forward to seeing you at the parade and sharing more updates soon!
